It is often said that every story has two sides; however, since 2014, my story has been limited to the perspective of only one. After undergoing a surgical procedure to remove a brain tumor on May 13th at Yale New Haven Hospital, I developed complete paralysis of my right side, my dominant side; hence, "The Right Side of Perfect". With the love and support of my family, friends, and a competent medical team I am now making use of my right side, almost entirely. Although much of the credit for my success can be attributed to extensive physical, occupational and speech therapy, a great deal of it was also due to my ability to laugh at the absurdity of my situation and to make those around me laugh as well. I am of the school of thought that laughter truly is the best therapy.
After realizing that those who follow the journey I am travelling on have the same questions, concerns/ challenges, and hopes I do, I've decided to share my story in case anything I have learned, endured, and benefited from can be of some assistance to someone else. In the end, it’s about paying it forward.
